High-power polarizing beam-splitter cubes separate orthogonal polarization states through a coated internal interface. Optical contacting or diffusion bonding can eliminate epoxy from the beam path; cube and plate reference specifications are retained separately.
Properties, applications and specifications

Polarization components separate a beam into orthogonal polarization states for isolation or routing. Cube and plate designs address high power, broad bandwidth, low dispersion and high extinction. Ion beam sputtered and e-beam dielectric coating options include reference extinction ratios greater than 1000:1, transmitted wavefront error better than λ/8 and 10 – 5 surface quality.
Standard and laser quality polarizing cube beamsplitters available from the catalog use one of several contacting technologies: optical contacting, optical adhesive contacting, or diffusion bonding. All have antireflection coatings for maximum throughput.
Custom cube and plate polarizers can vary material, dimensions, coating wavelength and absorption. Angular tolerance and transmitted wavefront error affect beam quality. Designs may operate at the Brewster angle or at 45° incidence.
