The ultraviolet oil-spill detection system uses a high-sensitivity sCMOS camera covering a spectral range of 180–1100 nm.
The camera specification lists conversion efficiencies of 60% at 254 nm and 50% at 365 nm. Ultraviolet imaging helps distinguish the boundary between water and oil contamination, including organic substances such as benzene.
